Our Robot Lab has empowered Members to succeed in academic areas they never thought they would explore. Michael, a 7th-grade Club Member, always thought he was “bad at math” and was hesitant to participate in our STEM workshops. He thought, if he couldn’t do math, he would struggle in STEM activities - a belief many students have. However, with the encouragement of our Club Team, Michael joined the STEM group. Six weeks into the program, he’d gained the confidence to take over the development of his own robot. It was a challenge, yet he persevered. Soon, Michael achieved something no one had, he became the first kid in our Clubs to design a working, high-precision “arm and claw,” capable of lifting and placing an egg. At the Club, Michael discovered he was not only good at engineering – he was GREAT at it!
Our Team has been guiding our Members through a series of engaging and educational activities that develop and advance foundational STEM skills while building confidence.
